It's not necessarily the wrong recipe in some cases:  My MIL made 
beef stroganoff, and my husband said my version never tasted the same 
as hers.  I even stood and watched her make it and wrote down every 
step and every ingredient.  It still didn't taste the same.  So I 
started experimenting.  One night I added double the sour cream and 
more water and he said I'd done it!

For some reason I've never understood, 2 people can take the exact 
same recipe and it will not come out the same.  I have a knack for 
bread .... others try my recipes and get bricks.
