I use 1 1/2 cups white bread flour plus 1 cup starter, 1 cup milk, 1 egg, 
and 1 1/2 cups whole wheat. So about half can be whole wheat quite easily. 
I also throw in about 1/4 cup sunflower seeds. Mmmmm.....
