Adding grain?

I would like to add wheat berries, oat berries or rye berries to bread
machine recipes. I assume I should soak the berries first? How long? An
hour or overnight? Should the liquid in the recipe be decreased because of
the extra liquid added to the grain?

Any thought on this matter would be appreciated.
